I always used to think that I'd be like mom someday, and then everyone else and their mom expected me to be like her. Funny how my issues and the fact that I do love my family to bits are exactly the reasons I never want to pick the spear up.
[He's looking away from you now, Jessie.]
Or at least... I never used to want it. Lately, I figure that it really isn't for me. Same way I don't think I can shoot a bow properly, or wield a sword and shield the same way Mamita does.
[He's still not looking at you, 'cause it was a knee-jerk reaction to flick that configuration away.]
[He's thinking about what you just asked, 'cause he's fallen quiet, looking at the hovering specs of the Gun mode, and the default Tonfa mode.]
Things I chose for myself, really. My family has no shortage of weapons and fighting styles to choose from, but what counts is that I get to pick.
[There's a bit of quiet pride when he continues.]
When I gave up the Wings, I could've picked any other weapon up to replace them and gone on from there. I just took it as a sign that Brig gave me a new pair of Tonfa, that they're every bit a part of me as the guns that my uncle and my best friend taught me how to shoot. And even there it was my choice to learn, to get better at the things I could be good at.
[He just stays a little bit silent and takes a seat next to Jessie, lighting up as he does so. He's gonna wait to speak again, unsure what to say next.]
[Kaz in an armory, Jessie, is like a kid in a candy store -- because no sooner do you say that does he light up like a Christmas tree. He's not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, though.]
Okay... I'll be over there, then?
[He's totally headed over to where all the guns are, so soon you'll hear the sound of various guns firing, mostly pistols. There may be some cackling as he tests out the Hanged Man, loaded with Archaic Rounds.

[Kaz's face falls at the mention of that word.]

[It's easy to close the door on painful things. It's much harder to make decisions for one's self after basking way too long in a giant's shadow.]

[There's a slight, approving smirk on his face.]
Welcome to adulthood, kid.

[His eyes dart a few places after you say that, Jessie. He's not sure what to make of the smirk.]

[And this is complete with hand gestures and an eyeroll:]
Hooray, responsibility! Fuck yeah, accountability!

[By his estimation, it doesn't get any worse than actually dying. So he shrugs and pads back over to you.]

You are most definitely a Fool.

I'm going to prepare a routine for you, and I expect it to be followed.

Yessir.

[They're all his anyway.]
If anyone asks, tell them I told you to do it.

He's going to enjoy himself a while.]
