[Welp, that's got him in a tizzy. The alarm in his head, probably defcon 4 now. No, definitely defcon 4, because all he can do is look at his boots and shake his head.
It wasn't that he didn't want to finish his turn at Balamb but, well... One thing lead to another, and engagement after engagement.]
U-um...
[What did he know about Cards? Second Breath, The Velvet Room, the 21 Triumphs and the Minor Arcana. That and playthroughs of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona and Devil Survivor.
Y-yessir. But what does it mean though, the fact that I can remember?
[Hm. Self-preservation on one hand, curiosity in the other and Kaz goes with his curiosity.
His phone does vibrate in his pocket, but he's giving Jessie his full attention right now. He kind of has to, the man is his teacher in all things Card, after all.]
Well, first it means that you're a lucky butt who didn't have to go on a Pilgrimage and figure out that you actually died in a universe that is pretending that you didn't.
[Blunt as ever.]
Second: I don't know. You're the first case of a Card coming around automatically after dying with his Persona and his memories of his exchange with Igor intact.
[A gleam in the boy's eyes has appeared, Jessie. You've gone and made him ask questions inside his head - questions that now require answers.
The first thing in his head is that he could always ask if he needed to. The second thing is that he's definitely hitting the Naufragio Arcanum for resource material later.]
Okay. [He pauses.]So, I'm a Card that's not like most other Cards, and what part does Igor play in my life now?
He's the guy who used to make every Card his bitch. Due to interesting circumstances [Try Jessie Vice saying a big Fuck You! to fate and literally breaking the game], you may or may not have him dropping into your dreams or during random parts of the day just to "check in" on you and drop hints at whatever happens next.
[Meh.]
If you learn the Minor Arcana, though, you can, if you so choose, be the one who ends up trolling him.
[Well, now that pings on Kaz, mostly because he's been sort of neutral towards Igor. He decides to press on said interesting circumstances first, though.]
Interesting circumstances?
[Why yes, your new student is a curious little cat.]
Yep, ones that I'm not too keen on telling you all about right now.
[Giving you a smile that could only be described as an accurate ":D!" before the two of you are walking into Naufragio's Shatterdome. Jessie, of course, makes a beeline straight for the wing that's been cordoned off for Naufragio Leviathian's use.]
Let's focus on you first. The faster you know how to be a Card, the better.
[Suffice to say, while Jessie and Fenris look like walking into a place like this is no big deal, Roxas is gaping at pretty much everything.]
[With anyone else, he'd probably press. Being the fledgling Card that he is, he just follows. Dropping his voice to a whisper as he catches up to his Persona.]
You might wanna close that.
[He grins and tilts his head towards Jessie, a silent "c'mon". When he does catch up, he looks at Jessie questioningly.]
[He shifts them both to one of his hands in order to give himself some leeway to fetch a cigarette for himself and light it. Then he's moving to the work bench.]
[If Kaz looks like a curious, excitable puppy, it's only because he is. After all, Vice is the leader in Hunter weaponry and various technology. So this is kind of really, really relevant to his interests.]
[Setting it down, and tapping the air right in front of him. That activates the light screen, which promptly projects a three-dimensional image of the weapons on the work table.
Have you ever seen those Iron Man movies from way back when?
Yeah. That's what it looks like. And yes, you can manipulate it. Jessie is.]
[And for one thing, Kaz is looking at the Wings, wondering if he can manipulate the schematics to come apart. He's got his arms crossed, and a look on his face that basically says 'how do I take you apart?' -- at least before he reaches out and gestures at the Wings to rotate.]
[That command is matched by a gesture on Jessie's end that has the model breaking apart into a fuckload of different forms. Four of them will definitely catch your interest, though, because they're labeled 'CURRENT' while the rest are labeled 'POTENTIAL': a pair of guns, a pair of tonfa, a pair of gun tonfa, and a bow.]
You're a lucky butt, kid. The Wings have those forms "stored". [Hum, hum.] The readings indicate that it's definitely sentient. It's capable of "growing" the way you want it to grow, and "learning" what you want it to learn.
Pulling some of the potential forms, but lemme know if they seem out of place
[He blinks twice at Jessie, tempted to tell him that it's the second time he's called his butt lucky. But he's unsure how banter would go over with his mentor, so he chooses to work.
He pulls the Tonfa, Gun and Gun Tonfa schematics to fore, resizing them to their actual size.
He also notes several other potential forms, all melee: Knives, Gauntlets, Sword and Shield, Gunblade, and Spear. He winces at that last one, though.]
Uh, does the space extend the same way that it did in the old Iron Man movies?
I had to ask.[He shrugs, then drags several weapon configurations out.]
Let's see...
[He moves past the workbench, spreading his arms wide and arranging the Wings' configurations around him. You'll see him side-eyeing the Spear before his eyebrow visibly twitches and he flicks the hologram into a million pieces.
There are now five configurations he's got circling him, all the same size as the Wings would normally be: Guns, Guns-Tonfa, Gunblade, Knives... How he found a dual Keyblade configuration, well. Fanboy. He's rotating them, studying them, and because he knows this is all probably saved somewhere, he's brought up a keypad and is typing up notes.
It's a while before he even so much as says something.]
So the Wings respond to me, and grow the way I want them to. Its configurations are up to me to decide, but then... How do I make them come out?
[This he asks as he takes a hold of the Gun configuration.]
[Catching that flinch. He had absentmindedly noted the first.
He'll talk to you about it in a moment. First:]
I'll have to modify the Wings and make them variable. That'll give you access to those forms. [Gesturing to the "CURRENT" forms.] Do you want the others?
[He draws that out because he definitely wants the Guns, not too sure about the Gun-Tonfa. He's looking at the Bow form, and deciding that while that had been Oswald's style, it wasn't his. A flick of his fingers turns that into shards of light, and he brings the Keyblades, Knives and Gunblade forms forward.]
What do you think?
[He asks, because your opinion matters to him. You are, after all, his Mentor.]
I think you should stick to what you know. If you don't know how to use a form, don't bother learning it when you've got a fuckload of other things to study.
[Like. You know. Card powers. Benedictions. Basic self-defense.]
[He's holding out the Gun Form in the palm of his hand.]
The Keyblade and the Gunblade forms are a litttle too flashy, I was gonna ask if I could have their schematics to study... I don't think Knives are my style, and I'm not ready for the Guns-Tonfa...
[Kaz shrugs, leaving the Gun form schematics in the air, and compressing the rest by caging it in his hands like in the movie.]
What I'm trying to say, I guess, is that you can trust me to to stick to what I know, and learn based on that.
[The retort on his tongue dies before it even fully forms, mostly because yeah, earlier on he DID bite off more than he could chew and it had gotten him hurt.]
That and I'm a better gunner than I am a swordsman.
[He smiles now, totally open to whatever else you got for him.]

Hit the books ASAP. I'll be nice this time, and NOT tell your former instructors that you don't have your Persona 101 down pat.

First: give the Wings to me.
[Jessie's already turning in your direction, and holding his hands out.]

He hasn't really let anyone else touch them since his initiation, so he hopes they don't react badly, though Oswald's probably keeping them quiet.]

C'mere. We'll take a look at it together.
